Education

Education is one of the basic and priority activities of the institute. Mostly, it covers the education and information spreading in the area of gender equality. The education is aimed at the employees of the Office of BBSGR, employees of the organisations falling within the authority of BBSGR and possible future inclusion of the wider public or the specific group of citizens into the education process. The education is realised as a part of the project activity, where the institute (BBSGR respectively) is the coordinator or the partnering organisation.

Education activities in 2008:

• in May it took part in the training of Romany pupils of basic schools in cooperation with Cepa – Friends of the Earth
• in July trainings for the organisations falling within the authority of BBSGR and self-government in cooperation with the European Education Centre in Banská Bystrica
• in November the training of the gender awareness and same treatment within the project “Let us prevent the discrimination with principles of the same treatment” took place in cooperation with the Women's Union of Slovakia. It was aimed at teachers of ethical and social education at high schools falling within the authority of BBSGR
• in November the training of the employees of BBSGR called Gender equality in regional politics took place in cooperation with the European Education Centre in Banská Bystrica

• in February and March the education of BBSGR's high school teachers in cooperation with the Slovak National Centre for Human Rights took place. It covered the area of gender equality and discrimination

• the realisation of the education project “Training of BBSGR's employees” in the application of gender equality in practice”
